We're taking suggestions under advisement

Post by Administrator on Tue Apr 01, 2008 4:41 pm

Thanks to everyone and their positive feedback. We will look into some changes suggested by some who've looked. Thanks also to those who've registered.
Here are some changes that were made:
1. Forums were swapped around which bumped up the SUV forums a notch
2. Test Forum was moved to the bottom along with feedback

Other comments:
1. The picture at the top will be modified to better reflect the purpose of the forum. A W164 will be added in place of the C Class.
2. Some have complained the picture runs off the page on smaller computer screens. This also will be modified, since the picture isn't fluid.
3. Other services, I'm sure will soon be added. Ads will also be disabled, shortly.

Thanks for your time and suggestions!

Okay, these are my suggestions:

-Hyphens on "Mercedes-Benz" and/or between the model and class such as "GL-Class".
-Mercedes Benz diesels; Group, Club buy; Feedback and suggestions should probably be capitalized.
-This is up to you guys, but maybe the chassis codes should be included for the GL (X164), and R (W251).
-Although it might be impractical to list out all of the individual trim levels of the G-Wagen, I think the other models should have a complete list:
GL: GL320 CDI, GL420 CDI, GL450, GL550. (GL should also be MY07+, not 06)
ML(W164): ML320 CDI, ML350, ML420 CDI, ML500, ML550, ML63 AMG.
R: R320 CDI, R350, R500, R63 AMG.
-It might be just me, but I think having "Mercedes" or "Mercedes Benz" in the section titles is a little redundant for some sections.
-There's also some sporadic spacing between the model and the number--ML_xxx. Some have it, some don't.

The site looks good so far! Keep it up and take your time!

Mercedes officially classifies the R-Class as a 'crossover SUV', so it has to stay.

When this site was built, many of those models were not available or announced. We will change them, in time. Thanks!!

First, thanks for all the hard work (and I don't know how you managed to keep it quiet :D )

Second, my poor eyes are a bit wary of light-coloured fonts. If there's any chance of making a switch to a darker colour (what's wrong with black?) that would be great. Of course it's just one person; I'm not sure if others have the same issue with the ease of reading.

Or maybe I should start a poll...

Maybe you could think about adding a Sprinter Forum?

Thanks for setting this up, it's great!

Spelling checker

Post by NorthseaRoughneck on Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:56 am

Maybe I am missing it, as in ... not seeing it, but the spelling checker on P3 was a handy tool for us non native english speakers. I know it saved my ass a couple of times from looking stupid.

Keep up the good work though ... very impressive!

It ia indeed a very handy tool. The one that is on P3 only works in MSIE, not the other browsers. FWIW, Mozilla Firefox has a Spell Checker built into the browser that works in all websites, not just P3. I don't know whether other browsers have this feature or not.

This forum software has the feature built in. You should get a red dotted line underneath a misspelled word.

Suggestions

Post by K-Nine on Wed Apr 02, 2008 2:37 pm

As TRC posted on P3, the colors on P3 are better. "Reflex blue will kill your eye nerves very fast." I could not agree more. Maybe you could do something about the color?

I disagree. Just b/c MB claims it is a SUV or Crossover SUV or the official vehicle of the Rolling Stones doesn't make it true.

Chrysler rebadged a LeBaron in the 90s and called it a Maseratti TC - does that make it a Maseratti?

Cadillac took a Chevy Cavalier and rebadged it as the Cadillac Cimarron - hardly a Caddy.

I know a rather unattractive female that insists on wearing a skin tight shirt emblazed with "Single and Fabulous" in glitter. While she may be single, fabulous she definitely is not.

I'd trade the R class forum for a Sprinter forum in a second.

If it get's traffic, it stays. If not, it goes. Simple supply and demand economics. bounce

The site is somewhat visually lacking. How about a "featured rides" which is a random generator that showcases one album from a select number (say four) of different users galleries?

Pictures are worth 1,000's of words, so why not? I can't think of anything else to suggest. The format and colors look very nice! Smile

In time, features and options will be added. Since this is open source software, unlike vBulletin, developers spend countless hours plugging security leaks and updating features they deem popular enough to incorporate into the software. Some of these features, such as the one you suggested, would definitely add cost to the forum, but that doesn't make it a deal breaker, since we have some financial support. Right now, we'll concentrate on the basics such as the gallery and blogs options. We have also submitted to the developers a few other options we're hoping for acceptance for. Thanks for your suggestion.
